National Centre for Expertise of Drugs and Medical Devices (NCEDMD)

  • Applications are filed electronically with the NCEDMD, which runs the technical evaluation and any laboratory testing.
  • Under the EAEU route you nominate a reference member state plus at least one involved member state; the involved state approves or rejects the reference state's decision.
  • Budget 9–15 months for a typical EAEU medical device registration. Higher-risk classes run longer.
  • The national route is still open for applications filed before 31 December 2026. After that, EAEU only.

One EAEU registration is recognised across all five member states — you register once and can sell in all of them. National-route registration closes on 31 December 2026; from 1 January 2027 the EAEU route is the only one available.

Market questions for Kazakhstan

  • Kazakhstan is landlocked, so rail is the main route — and rail from China arrives faster than sea freight reaches most Gulf ports. Being close to the factory is a real advantage here, not a talking point.
  • The device market here is not locked up by the Western premium brands the way the Gulf is. Distributors carrying Chinese-manufactured systems are the norm, not the exception.
  • One EAEU registration opens Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan as well — the addressable market is far larger than Kazakhstan alone.
